between fertility preservation surgery and first chemo

dear amy,

thank you for the thoughtful package...

ginger is supposed to help with sickness, and the cream with dryness, so i think both will be good. and the reading material too.

i had surgery yesterday. keyhole /kikkert surgery. they took out one of my ovaries: 'fertility preservation'. i've never had general anesthetic before. i woke up yellow from breast to crotch with three small holes - they go in through your navel. and, apparently, with the recovering heart rate of a professional athlete. vomited outside the hospital when i left to go home. not supposed to ride a bike for a week now.

tomorrow is first chemotherapy and i am a bit scared - mainly that i will be too sick to take care of sage. i made my friend glynis cut my hair off in preparation (see photo), seemed like a good excuse to try new haircuts (i also get money from the health service for a wig - although not sure if i want one). think it will be less scary once i get started. happening so fast yet so slow.

if my treatment goes to plan, it looks like i will have chemo til the end of the year and then operation in january, looking forward to getting it over with.

sage is at vuggestue these days while i am at hospital. i am glad he can be there. he seems to like it. but it is weird being apart from him so much but with my days all full of this.
